  I've just had the worst vacation in my life. I rented what seemed to be a lovely home at 22 N 21st St. in Surf City for $5500 for the week.When we arrived, the air conditioning and the stove wasn't working, mind you it was the hottest week of the summer. By Tuesday, many of the electrical outlets weren't working and we had no hot water.We couldn't cook nor wash dishes (cold water doesn't really get dishes clean). We had to dine out multiple nights, which gets expensive for a family of 10.Most of the food we brought ended up wasted.The electric issue was related to the meter box, which the electric company had to replace.After turning off the power for 7 hours, the air conditioning worked for 2 hours and then broke down again. Through all this mess, the realtor, Rich Zambrano from Island Realty, never once stopped by or sent anyone over from the agency to offer any assistance. I suggested they send us over fans and was asked where I thought they were supposed to get fans. I was thinking Walmart, but apparently that was too much trouble. I realize the agency nor the owner had much control over the meter going bad, but from a customer service perspective, the agency should have at least stopped over to see first hand the horrific conditions we had to deal with. Instead, the agent tended to be argumentative and showed absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. He had the power and, in my opinion, the responsibility to try to de-escalate the overall situation by showing some kindness and empathy. Needless to say, I won't be coming back to Island Realty. I hope others have a better experience.
